Job Description

Crystal Mountain Resort stands as the premier destination for winter sports enthusiasts and summer adventurers in the Pacific Northwest. Located in Washington, this famous resort is surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the National Forest and the iconic Mount Rainier. As part of the Alterra Mountain Company, a group known globally for some of the most aspirational mountain brands, Crystal Mountain offers not just a workplace but a lifestyle deeply rooted in outdoor adventure, community spirit, and exceptional guest experiences. It is recognized for delivering best-in-class service and outdoor adventures that complement its breathtaking terrain and natural beauty.

The resort culture emphasizes empowerment, authenticity, collaboration, and purpose, making it an inspiring place to work and grow. Employees find themselves part of a passionate community united by a love for mountainous adventures and creating lasting memories for guests and staff alike. Crystal Mountain Resort offers a diverse range of roles, perfect for individuals seeking to expand their skills, escape the city lifestyle, or pursue a career in the ski and outdoor recreation industries. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing organization dedicated to the future of mountain adventure.

The position available is for a Cook I within the Food and Beverage business unit. This role is seasonal and is eligible for employee housing, ideal for those who want to immerse themselves fully in the mountain lifestyle. With a pay range of $21 to $23 per hour, the Cook I position reports to the Lead Cook and Executive Sous Chef and holds the responsibility for back-of-house operations in a specific outlet at Crystal Mountain Resort. The role involves preparing and delivering high-quality food and beverage products while adhering to recipes, chef instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations.

The cook ensures the cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of their station and the overall kitchen environment, contributing to a positive guest experience. The position is entry-level but requires a fundamental set of culinary skills, including basic knife skills, understanding of food sanitation principles like FIFO (first-in, first-out), and food storage. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, receptive to training, and committed to developing their culinary techniques under the guidance of the resort chefs.

Working at Crystal Mountain Resort offers much more than a job. Employees benefit from numerous perks designed to enhance their experience both on and off the mountain. These include an unlimited free Alterra season pass for themselves and qualifying family members, significant discounts on partner resort tickets, ski and snowboard lessons, rentals, and gear tune-ups. Additional benefits range from free access to Alterra Mountain destinations during time off, ski-referral letters, friends and family day-ski vouchers, to employee-only night skiing events. The resort also provides employee housing for eligible positions, accrued paid time off, group health insurance, a 401K plan with immediate vesting and a generous match, and opportunities for career growth and year-round employment.

For professionals looking to grow their roots in the ski industry and embrace an adventurous work environment surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, the Cook I role at Crystal Mountain Resort presents an excellent opportunity. This position is perfect for culinary enthusiasts eager to start or advance their career in a dynamic setting where passion for food, guest service, and outdoor life come together. The resort's commitment to an inclusive, empowering, and collaborative workplace culture makes it a supportive place to learn, work, and thrive.
