Job Description

Crystal Mountain Resort is the Pacific Northwest's premier destination for skiing, snowboarding, and summer adventure. It is located in Washington and is part of the Alterra Mountain Company, which includes some of the world's most aspirational and well-known mountain resort brands. Crystal Mountain offers a world-class outdoor experience on extraordinary terrain, nestled within the beautiful National Forest and close to Mt. Rainier. As a premier Ikon Pass destination, the resort attracts a vibrant community of big mountain adventurers and nature lovers who value both the infectious spirit of the mountains and the unique camaraderie found there. The culture of Crystal Mountain emphasizes empowerment, authenticity, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose centered around delivering exceptional guest experiences. Beyond an ordinary job, Crystal Mountain invites its employees to be part of shaping the future of mountain adventure while fostering personal and professional growth in a dynamic, inspiring environment.

The position of Cook I at Crystal Mountain Resort is a seasonal, employee housing eligible role within the Food & Beverage business unit. Reporting to the Lead Cook and Executive Sous Chef, this role plays a vital part in the back-of-house culinary operations specifically designed to provide high-quality food service that enhances the overall guest experience. Cook I is considered an entry-level culinary position and focuses on preparing food according to established recipes and standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and kitchen environment. This role offers unique opportunities to work directly in a resort setting surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and to engage with a team that shares a passion not only for food but for mountain culture and outdoor lifestyle.

Employees enjoy an extensive range of benefits including a free Alterra season pass with unlimited direct access to lifts at all Alterra resorts, plus passes for spouses and dependents under 25, half-price window tickets at IKON partner resorts, free access to Alterra destinations during time off, friends and family day-ski vouchers, and discounts on equipment rentals, lessons, gear tune-ups, food and beverage, retail shops, and more. Additional perks include pro deals on gear from hundreds of brands, a discount marketplace covering a wide range of products and services, employee-only night skiing events, paid time off for eligible positions, group health insurance, 401K with generous match and immediate vesting, and employee housing for qualifying roles.

The Cook I position is suited for individuals with basic knife skills and a foundational understanding of food sanitation, recipe following, FIFO (first in, first out) food storage principles, and a willingness to learn and develop their culinary skills under professional chefs. The position requires the ability to stand for long hours, handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, and the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays across different venues or locations within the resort. Some culinary outlets may also require intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability during the winter season due to location accessibility. This job is ideal for those looking to escape the city for a mountain lifestyle, expand culinary skills, or advance in the ski and hospitality industry while being part of a passionate team sharing a love for the mountains and outdoor adventure. Crystal Mountain Resort embraces diversity and is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
