Job Description
Crystal Mountain is the Pacific Northwest's premier destination for skiers, snowboarders, and summer adventurers. As the largest ski resort in Washington, Crystal Mountain is part of Alterra Mountain Company, which includes some of the world's most aspirational brands in the mountain resort industry. Located in a stunning National Forest area near Mount Rainier, Crystal Mountain combines breathtaking natural beauty with world-class skiing and snowboarding terrain. This resort offers guests unforgettable experiences fueled by exceptional service and a strong community spirit. At Crystal Mountain, the connection goes beyond the slopes; it's a lifestyle embraced by both employees and visitors alike, fostering a passion for outdoor adventure, collaboration, and authenticity.
The Cook I position is a seasonal, part-time role within the Food & Beverage department at Crystal Mountain Resort. Reporting directly to the Lead Cook and Executive Sous Chef, this entry-level culinary role plays a vital part in the back-of-house (BOH) operations at one of the resort’s dining outlets. The Cook I is responsible for ensuring guests receive high-quality food prepared according to recipes, chef instructions, company Standard Operating Procedures, and food safety regulations. This role emphasizes the importance of station organization, cleanliness, and sanitation, contributing directly to the overall guest experience.
As an essential member of the culinary team, the Cook I at Crystal Mountain Resort will gain valuable experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced mountain environment. This opportunity suits individuals eager to develop their culinary skills, learn advanced cooking techniques under guidance, and grow professionally within the ski industry. The resort encourages a culture of empowerment, authenticity, collaboration, and purpose, making it an inspiring place to work for those passionate about both hospitality and outdoor lifestyles.
This job provides competitive hourly pay between $21 and $23 and includes eligibility for employee housing, making it accessible for those relocating to the mountain area. Employees enjoy extensive perks such as an unlimited free Alterra season pass (also available to spouse and dependents), discounts on ski and snowboard lessons, rentals, food and beverage, retail shops, and more. Other benefits include accrued paid time off, group health insurance for eligible positions, a 401K plan with generous matching, and exclusive events like employee-only night skiing. The resort values team members who demonstrate a willingness to learn, work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adapt to various venues and outlets within the resort.
Working at Crystal Mountain means becoming part of a vibrant mountain community where friends gather for adventure and the work truly aligns with one’s passion for the guest experience, outdoor lifestyle, and connection to nature. This role is ideal for culinary professionals seeking to build foundational kitchen skills while enjoying the unparalleled lifestyle benefits of mountain resort employment. Joining Crystal Mountain means more than just a job – it’s an invitation to grow your career, expand your skills, and embrace the spirited mountain culture every day.
