Job Description

City of Hope is a world-renowned independent research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases. Located in Duarte, California, the institution has grown into a national system that includes the Los Angeles campus and a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, as well as facilities in key cities such as Orange County, Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix. City of Hope is committed to delivering innovative care and groundbreaking therapies that improve the lives of patients and bring hope to families worldwide. Their team of compassionate professionals is dedicated to fulfilling the mission of providing the cures of tomorrow to those who need them today, through research, treatment, and comprehensive support services.

This job role is focused on joining the City of Hope culinary team where you will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. This position demands a high level of attention to detail and adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring nutritional and dietary requirements are met for patients, visitors, and staff. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive dining experience by providing excellent customer service, preparing food in accordance with federal, state, and City of Hope standards, and working collaboratively with other kitchen personnel. This role requires the preparation of ‘to order’ meals, sometimes under short preparation times, including specialty diets, while maintaining quality and consistency. The job also includes maintaining sanitation and safety regulations, attending training sessions, and participating in safety and hazard assessments. Employees are expected to comply with all company policies including safety, risk management, and infection control.

Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values teamwork and personal growth, with positions represented by a collective bargaining agreement. Employees’ pay is determined based on work experience, qualifications, and location. City of Hope also offers a range of comprehensive benefits to ensure the well-being and professional development of their dedicated staff. With two positions open, this is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute meaningfully to a healthcare institution that deeply values service, quality, and community health impact.
