The Cook I position reports directly to the Executive Sous Chef, fostering a collaborative kitchen environment where teamwork and communication are vital. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months previous experience working with food in a commercial kitchen preferred
- Must have Food Handlers Card and maintain current certification
- Ability to maintain clean and safe kitchen environment while meeting regulatory compliance
- Effective communication and support skills
- Thorough documentation capabilities
- Eligible driver with current state license and clean driving record if required
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to pass criminal background check, drug screen, physical and TB test
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week with approval
- Good organization and time management
- Effective communication with all staff levels
- Ability to work as part of a team in multitasking environment
- Flexibility to handle changing priorities
- Computer proficiency
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months previous experience working with food in a commercial kitchen preferred
- Food Handlers Card with current certification
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Effective communication skills
- Thorough documentation skills
- Eligible driver with valid state license and acceptable driving record if driving is required
- Proficient in English language
- Able to pass background, drug, physical, and TB tests
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Proficient with computers and software
- Ability to function in a team, manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing conditions
Job Duties
- Prepare food products for the residents and customers
- Follow proper procedures for receiving food and food storage
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to learn new processes including but not limited to cooking, food presentation and adhering to recipes
- Perform sanitation duties in kitchen work area
- Complete assigned record keeping duties
- Follow state and all regulatory compliance requirements to assure department is operating within guidelines
- Support positive communication and relationships with other departments
- Provides direct support to the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager
- Provide creativity with feedback for new dish suggestions and presentations to enhance the dietary experience for residents
- Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times
