Job Description
The hiring establishment is dedicated to providing exceptional culinary services in a professional and respectful environment. This company values dignity, respect, dependability, honesty, and professionalism, ensuring that all employees work cohesively towards delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service. The organization fosters a positive workplace culture where employees are encouraged to seek guidance when uncertain, admit and learn from mistakes, and maintain open communication with supervisors and colleagues. As a climate-controlled, non-smoking workplace, the company prioritizes the health and safety of its staff while upholding rigorous sanitation and food handling standards as mandated by health authorities.
The Cook I position is an entry-level culinary role uniquely designed for individuals with basic cooking or culinary skills who are enthusiastic about developing their expertise in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This position involves regular supervision and training to help new cooks grasp all facets of food preparation and kitchen operations. It demands strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the capability to work collaboratively with front and back of the house teams. Responsibilities include learning all menu items, executing cooking methods accurately, maintaining kitchen sanitation, and following specific instructions efficiently. The role also includes assisting with deliveries and ensuring all food is prepared according to the highest quality and safety standards. Physical demands involve standing and walking for extended periods, lifting heavy items up to and occasionally beyond 100 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks accurately over long spans.
Employment in this position requires obtaining a Food Handler’s Card within the first 90 days and maintaining a non-key gaming license from the Pueblo of Santa Ana Gaming and Regulatory Commission. A flexible schedule is essential, including availability for weekends and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the restaurant or hospitality industry. Preference for this role is given to qualified Santa Ana Tribal Members, adding a cultural community aspect to the employment. Employees must also be capable of operating smartphones for company communications, either via personal devices or company-provided equipment on a payroll deduction basis.
This entry-level cook role is ideal for candidates looking to grow within the culinary field in a supportive and well-structured environment. With emphasis on teamwork, dependability, and adherence to safety and quality, the company provides a solid foundation for building lasting culinary skills. The role exemplifies commitment to traditional kitchen practices combined with modern communication tools and safety measures such as protective goggles, cutting gloves, and safety aprons. This ensures not only the quality of output but also the well-being of staff, enhancing the overall service delivery experience for guests.
