Job Requirements
- High school graduate or 1-year equivalent experience with commercial production food service
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Food handlers certification within 6 months of hire
- Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution, or commercial kitchen preferred
- Effective communication skills and customer service skills
- Knowledge of large quantity standards of cooking preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation by recipe preferred
- Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision
- Ability to work independently as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and good organization skills
- Compatibility with others in service situations
- Clean and neat appearance
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Obtain appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes when necessary
- Responsible for lifting and carrying medium to heavy food and equipment
- Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times
- Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation
- Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
- Complete assignments under direct supervision
- Perform all other duties as assigned
