Currently, Pier Sixty-Six Resort is seeking a seasoned Cook I - Banquets to join its dynamic culinary team. This high-volume position is ideal for culinary professionals who are passionate about creating authentic and distinct dining experiences within the banquets department. Reporting to the Sous Chef, the Cook I - Banquets plays an essential role in preparing and cooking food to meet the resort's high culinary standards. Responsibilities include regulating cooking temperatures, preparing special meals, maintaining food logs, and ensuring meals are presented with proper portions and garnishes.
This role requires a service-oriented attitude and a commitment to excellence in food preparation and presentation. The Cook I - Banquets will collaborate closely with Food & Beverage service staff to communicate menu specials and out-of-stock items effectively. Additionally, the role involves cleaning and disinfecting kitchen areas, maintaining food quality, and adhering to all safety and security policies.
The Cook I not only focuses on culinary skills but also demonstrates leadership qualities by assisting with training, scheduling, and motivating team members, contributing to a supportive and efficient kitchen environment. Job Duties

- prepare special meals or substitute items
- regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
- pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator
- ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
- maintain food logs
- monitor the quality and quantity of food that is prepared
- communicate assistance needed during busy periods
- inform Chef of excess food items for use in daily specials
- prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
- inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out of stock menu items
- ensure the quality of the food items
- prepare cold foods
- serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles
- wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
- check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
