We are currently seeking a skilled Cook I who is passionate about culinary excellence and guest satisfaction. This hourly, full-time position offers a competitive wage of $24.26 per hour along with a comprehensive benefits package. The Cook I plays a vital role in the kitchen team, responsible for cost-effective food preparation and plate presentation that aligns with the high standards of the Radisson Blu experience. Working closely under the Chef's guidance, the successful candidate will prepare sauces, soups, and hot entrées, accurately follow recipes, and ensure each dish meets our quality and presentation expectations. Knowledge of safe food handling practices and the ability to maintain a clean, organized work environment are essential to the role.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum one year cooking experience, preferably in upscale high volume environment
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and plate presentation
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must possess ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with department managers, team members and guests
  • Ability to follow prep list
  • Able to work flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepares and properly garnishes all food orders in accordance with menu specifications under the guidance of the chef
  • Prepares sauces, soups and hot entrees in accordance with menu
  • Uses and follows recipes accurately
  • Adjusts recipes as needed
  • Uses high-quality ingredients and measures them accurately
  • Operates all kitchen equipment properly
  • Taste tests and evaluates foods before serving to ensure standards are met, consulting chefs if necessary
  • Portions food into standard portions
  • Garnishes food in an appealing manner
  • Presents food using proper plate presentation techniques
  • Coordinates completion of menu items with server
  • Sets up for meals by ensuring proper amounts for forecasted covers, special functions and reservations
  • Assists in controlling food costs by monitoring waste and usage
  • Organizes and maintains work areas, coolers and storage areas
  • Prepares work checklist and organizes work stations for each shift
  • Checks and maintains coolers and storage areas for cleanliness, quantity and quality
  • Requisitions food with approvals
  • Takes care of kitchen equipment
  • Ensures kitchen area remains clean and hazard-free
  • Dates and rotates food containers per SOP
  • Returns unused food items to storage properly
  • Keeps floor clean and free of obstacles
  • Serves food that is safe to eat and visually appealing
  • Follows safe food-handling guidelines
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas according to schedule
  • Provides 100 percent guest satisfaction through genuine hospitality
  • Gives personal attention and uses teamwork
  • Listens, apologizes empathetically, finds solutions and follows through on guest concerns
