Job Description

The Lido House Autograph Collection is a distinguished member of the Marriott International family, renowned for its excellence in hospitality and culinary arts. Situated at 3300 Newport Blvd, Newport Beach, California, the Lido House offers guests an exceptional dining and lodging experience with a commitment to quality and unique charm. As part of the Autograph Collection, each hotel in the portfolio is independently operated, bringing distinctive character and memorable experiences to travelers seeking individuality and adventure. The brand strives to attract "The Individualist"—a traveler who views every journey as an opportunity to enrich their personal narrative through select, unforgettable stays.

Lido House's partnership with Rouxbe Cooking School underscores its dedication to culinary innovation and professional development. This collaboration provides culinary associates with access to an engaging, self-paced online platform filled with expertly designed and visually rich culinary lessons. Such forward-thinking training enables associates at every experience level to refine their skills, elevate their contributions and build rewarding culinary careers within the thriving Marriott ecosystem.

The culinary associate role at Lido House focuses on preparing high-quality, visually appealing meals while maintaining rigorous controls over food safety and portioning. Associates will be equipped with tools and opportunities to further their capabilities and support the hotel's commitment to exceptional guest experiences. The position is full-time, non-management, and offers competitive pay at $31.00 per hour. It is perfect for culinary professionals eager to engage in advancing their expertise in an encouraging, established hospitality environment.

Associates in this role will prepare special meals or substitute items and control temperatures of cooking equipment such as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. They will manage food thawing processes properly and ensure meals are presented according to quality and portioning standards. Maintaining accurate food logs and monitoring the quantity and quality of provisions is essential. During peak periods, associates must communicate effectively to request assistance and keep kitchen operations running smoothly.

Further responsibilities include notifying Chefs about excess food for daily specials and updating Food and Beverage service staff about menu specials or out-of-stock items. Upholding consistent adherence to food safety, preparation checklists, and presentation guidelines ensures that all dishes meet the hotel's high standards. Culinary associates may also be called upon to prepare cold food options.

Besides food preparation, associates support management by participating in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, advising, and motivating team members where appropriate, always acting as a positive role model. They observe all company safety and security policies and report any maintenance needs, accidents, or unsafe conditions promptly. Maintaining professional appearance and confidentiality of proprietary information safeguards the hotel's brand trust and integrity.

Team-oriented and proactive, associates anticipate and meet guest service needs, communicate professionally with colleagues and guests, and foster positive working relationships to contribute to the overall success of the hospitality team. Practical physical requirements include standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, reaching overhead and below knees, and lifting or moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Flexibility in performing a variety of reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors rounds out the expectations for this vital hospitality role.

Marriott International is proud to be an equal opportunity employer promoting diversity and inclusion at every level. The company welcomes applications from all qualified individuals and is committed to non-discrimination on all protected bases including disability and veteran status. Marriott consistently supports associates' growth and development through comprehensive training and career advancement opportunities across its extensive brand portfolio, including the Autograph Collection.

Joining the Lido House Autograph Collection means becoming part of a vibrant, diverse team where you can do your best work, discover your purpose, belong to an inspiring global community, and evolve into the best version of yourself. If you desire to blend culinary artistry with guest-centered service in one of California's premier hospitality destinations, this culinary associate position offers a promising path forward.
