The Cook I position at Sodexo, located at the USAA Insurance UPA in Chesapeake, offers a full-time employment opportunity with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $18.00 per hour. Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Punctual attendance and reliability

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation and food-handling procedures
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with federal, state and corporate standards
  • Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving various foodstuffs
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production and keep records for planning and requisitioning
  • Walk or stand for extended periods
  • Reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally 50 pounds
  • Perform repetitive motions
  • Attend work and show up for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs and client requirements
