The Cook I position at SodexoMagic located on the University of Illinois Chicago Campus offers full-time or part-time employment with an hourly wage of $19.05. As a Cook I, your responsibilities extend beyond traditional cooking duties; you are an essential team player dedicated to reducing food waste and delivering nutritious meals that meet various dietary and cultural needs throughout the day. This position involves preparing hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and specialized catered events. Success in this role requires attention to detail in following recipes and product directions, adaptability to different culinary tasks such as managing a la carte stations or the grill, and commitment to workplace safety and timeliness.

Job Requirements

  • 0 to 2 years of previous related experience is beneficial

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with regularity
  • maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • reduce food waste by adhering to portion control and inventory guidelines
  • perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
