Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton at 455 Grand Bay Dr, Miami, Florida, is a world-renowned luxury hotel brand that is committed to delivering exceptional service and unforgettable experiences to its guests. As part of Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton has established itself as a global leader in luxury hospitality by consistently setting the standard for rare and special service. The company prides itself on its inclusive and diverse workplace culture, where associates’ unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences are valued and celebrated. The Ritz-Carlton operates more than 100 award-winning properties worldwide, attracting top hospitality professionals who are empowered to be creative, thoughtful, and compassionate in their work. The brand emphasizes the 'Gold Standards,' which include the Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values, and these principles guide every team member’s daily actions to provide gracious and thoughtful service. Joining The Ritz-Carlton means becoming part of a global portfolio of brands within Marriott International, where associates have the opportunity to be proud of their work, belong to a supportive, global team, and grow both professionally and personally.
The position available within the main kitchen at the Miami location is a full-time, non-management cook role focused on food and beverage preparation. This role is critical in maintaining the high quality and presentation standards that The Ritz-Carlton is known for. The cook is responsible for preparing special meals and substitute items while regulating the temperature of kitchen appliances such as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters to ensure perfect cooking conditions. Food safety and proper portioning are emphasized, with duties including pulling food from freezer storage to thaw, maintaining food logs, and monitoring the quantity and quality of all food prepared.
This role requires clear communication with other kitchen staff and service personnel regarding menu specials, stock availability, and assistance needed during busy periods. The cook must also inform the chef about excess food items for daily specials, ensuring efficient use of resources. The preparation of cold foods is also part of the job scope, along with adhering to all recipes, quality standards, and presentation checklists. This role supports management in staff-related activities such as hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching team members, although it does not carry supervisory responsibilities.
Safety and professionalism are paramount. The cook must follow all company safety and security procedures, report any maintenance issues or unsafe work conditions promptly, complete necessary safety training, and maintain a clean, professional appearance. Confidentiality of proprietary information and protection of company assets are fundamental responsibilities. The job frequently involves physical activity such as standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, and performing duties that require bending, twisting, lifting, and moving objects up to 25 pounds. Teamwork and communication are key, as the cook is expected to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, support team goals, and respond appropriately to employee concerns.
This role is ideal for candidates who have at least three years of related work experience and technical or vocational education in culinary arts or a similar field. While no supervisory experience or specific licenses are required, the role demands a dedicated individual who can consistently uphold The Ritz-Carlton’s standards and contribute to a culture of excellence and luxury service. As an equal opportunity employer, The Ritz-Carlton welcomes all applicants and is committed to non-discrimination in all employment practices, including for people with disabilities and veterans. Ultimately, the position offers an opportunity to become part of a prestigious brand where passion for exceptional hospitality can flourish, making a meaningful difference in guests’ lives every day.
