Located in Leominster at the UMASS Health Alliance, this full-time Cook I position offers an hourly pay range of $21.00 to $22.00. The role involves morning shifts with varying days, including some weekends and holidays, providing flexibility to accommodate diverse schedules. As a Cook I at Sodexo, you will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items across all meal periods and special events, adhering strictly to Sodexo's culinary standards of quality, presentation, and consistency. The position demands efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensuring food safety and sanitation are maintained at the highest standards. This role requires familiarity with kitchen equipment and food handling procedures, as well as the ability to follow recipes and instructions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include preparing meals in compliance with federal, state, and corporate standards, seasoning and cooking various food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts, and accurately planning production needs by tasting products, reading menus, and maintaining production records. Physical demands of the job include walking or standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and reliability are essential, as is adaptability to additional duties based on the specific needs of different accounts.

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with federal, state and corporate standards
  • follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
  • taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records
  • walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • perform repetitive motions
  • attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
