As a Cook I at Sodexo, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality culinary services at the UNITED CLUB - PHX location. This is a full-time position paying $18.50 per hour, requiring open availability to accommodate varying shifts and work hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate preparation, cooking, portioning, and presentation of a diverse range of hot and cold food items throughout all meal periods and special events. By adhering to Sodexo’s rigorous culinary standards, you will help maintain the highest levels of food quality, safety, and sanitation while working in a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment.
Your responsibilities as Cook I include following detailed approved recipes and food handling protocols, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation for entrées such as soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. You will assist in planning production requirements by reading menus, estimating supply needs, and maintaining accurate records. The role demands endurance and physical capability as it involves extended periods of standing and walking, frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds (and occasional lifting of 50 pounds), and repetitive motions common in kitchen operations.
This position supports a team-oriented culture where collaboration and effective communication contribute to exceptional dining experiences for Sodexo’s clients. Besides food preparation and presentation, you will be expected to uphold cleanliness standards and safety regulations to meet federal, state, and corporate guidelines. Job Requirements
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and food safety protocols
- Ability to follow detailed instructions both written and verbal
- Physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Availability for varying shifts with open availability preferred
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Knowledge of basic operation of kitchen equipment and food-handling procedures
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good working knowledge of food preparation
- Ability to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs and client requirements
