The Cook I position at Sodexo, based at the Genuine Parts location in Atlanta, offers a full-time employment opportunity with an hourly pay range of $16 to $20. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and committed to delivering high-quality dining experiences in fast-paced environments. The Cook I is responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a diverse array of hot and cold dishes, following Sodexo's culinary standards for quality, taste, and consistency. This position demands thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation to ensure that all meals meet strict regulatory and company standards.

In this role, the Cook I must efficiently manage food preparation activities across various meal periods and special events, supporting kitchen operations while maintaining a clean and organized workstation. Responsibilities include following recipes accurately, seasoning and cooking food items, tasting and adjusting flavors, and managing food production planning and inventory requisitions. This position involves physical demands such as standing or walking for extended periods during shifts, typically exceeding 8 hours, as well as lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds. The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and punctuality, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for Sodexo's clients and customers.

  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Perform significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
