Job Description
Located in the vibrant heart of downtown Minneapolis' entertainment district, The Lofton Hotel offers an upscale lodging experience blending modern amenities with exceptional service. As Minnesota's first Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel, The Lofton is renowned for its unique boutique style that reflects the local culture and creates a memorable stay for guests. The hotel operates with a dedicated team of hospitality professionals committed to providing outstanding experiences to every guest, making it one of the top-ranked hotels in Minneapolis.
The Lofton Hotel is part of Marcus Hotels & Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation, which has over 60 years of experience in hospitality excellence. Known for their "People Pleasing People" philosophy, Marcus Hotels & Resorts continually emphasize service, operational quality, and a workplace culture where employees can thrive and grow their careers. With a portfolio of 16 hotels and resorts across the United States, Marcus Hotels & Resorts prides itself on unique character and style in each property.
This position offers an hourly wage of $24.72 and provides an exciting opportunity to join a well-respected hotel that values team members as much as guests. The Cook role is essential in maintaining the hotel’s reputation for high-quality food service, ensuring that every dish served meets strict standards of preparation, presentation, and taste. This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of food items following precise recipes, using proper food handling and storage techniques, and working collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members.
As a Cook at The Lofton Hotel, you will be expected to use your culinary skills to deliver an exceptional dining experience. The role requires knowledge of specialized cooking techniques such as charbroiling steaks at different levels of doneness, roasting prime rib, and expertly cutting various USDA meats including prime, wet-aged, dry-aged cuts, as well as pork, veal, lamb, and wild game. Attention to detail is critical, especially in trimming and portioning proteins according to Hilton’s custom program.
Your tasks will also include setting up all preparation equipment before service, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, and ensuring all food items are rotated and stored correctly to meet safety standards. The position demands the ability to work under pressure during busy service hours while maintaining communication with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
This role suits culinary professionals with formal education or with at least three years of relevant experience. The ability to understand orders from a point-of-sale system and use various cooking stations including sauté, grill, fry, and poultry is necessary. Additional benefits include garnishing knowledge, strong communication skills in English, and flexibility to work various shifts including long hours and weekends.
Working at The Lofton means more than just a job. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including well-balanced meals on every shift, room and dining discounts at Marcus Hotels & Resorts and Hilton properties worldwide, exclusive entertainment offers like movie theatre coupons, paid time off, medical and dental insurance, company-paid life insurance, 401k with employer match, and early wage access. The company also supports career growth with opportunities for transfers within its portfolio of properties.
Joining The Lofton Hotel means becoming part of a team that values service excellence, career development, and a positive work environment in one of Minneapolis’s most dynamic locations. The hotel is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. Be part of a hospitality leader that combines local charm with the standards of a top global brand, making each day rewarding for both guests and employees.
