Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, renowned for providing integrated facilities management and food services to various institutions, including corporate offices, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and remote sites. Sodexo operates with a profound commitment to creating a better everyday for everyone, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for its clients and their communities. At the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Sodexo is seeking to add a dedicated Cook I to their team to help maintain and deliver exceptional food service experiences in a fast-paced medical environment.
Sodexo’s Cook I plays a crucial role in preparing and presenting both hot and cold dishes that meet the company’s high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. Working full-time with varying shifts, the position demands a candidate who thrives in a dynamic kitchen atmosphere, showing adaptability and strong attention to detail. Earning a set pay rate of $18.00 per hour, the Cook I is directly responsible for ensuring that all food is cooked safely and efficiently, adhering strictly to federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
The Cook I at Sodexo will be involved in all aspects of kitchen operations, from food preparation to portion control and final dish presentation. This role requires the ability to follow recipes and product directions independently, as well as participate in effective teamwork within the kitchen environment. Food safety and sanitation are top priorities, with the Cook I expected to maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times. The job also requires considerable physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items.
Working with Sodexo also means joining a supportive and flexible work culture that values each employee’s individuality and contributions. Sodexo promotes ongoing training and career development opportunities, offering employees the chance to grow and turn their job into a fulfilling career path. Additionally, comprehensive benefits packages are available, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plans, discounts, and more. Some Sodexo locations, including this one, may also provide additional benefits such as free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation support.
Sodexo is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a workplace where all employees feel respected, valued, and heard. This role as a Cook I is a gateway opportunity for individuals seeking to enter or advance in the culinary service field within a reputable and globally recognized company that values sustainability, community welfare, and employee well-being. This position represents more than just a job; it offers a purposeful career with a positive impact on patients, staff, and visitors at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a team that innovates and improves how food services are delivered in a healthcare setting, contributing to the wellbeing and satisfaction of those relying on these services. The Cook I will consistently employ their culinary skills and attention to detail to ensure every meal served meets the high standard Sodexo upholds across its global operations.
