The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMTC) is one of the largest and most respected public research universities in the United States. Nestled in the vibrant metropolitan areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul, UMTC offers an enriching environment for students, staff, and faculty alike. Recognized by Forbes as a Best Employer for Company Culture (2026), Best Employer for Women (2023), and Best Employer by State from 2022 through 2026, the university takes pride in fostering an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic workplace. Its campus is closely integrated with world-renowned health centers, international corporations, government agencies, and diverse cultural and nonprofit organizations, providing expansive opportunities for professional growth and community engagement. UMTC emphasizes diversity and inclusion as core values, striving to attract and retain talented individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and identities.

The Cook position at Huntington Bank Stadium, part of the University’s food services team, plays a critical role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for guests, clients, and staff during events. This event-based role requires a highly motivated culinary professional capable of preparing, planning, and cooking various food items to ensure high-quality food production. The cook is responsible for both executing complex recipes and managing simpler dishes as necessary, often crafting meals from scratch while adhering strictly to brand standards and food safety regulations. Beyond food preparation, the cook helps keep the kitchen organized and efficient, using independent judgment to assess menu presentation and resolve recipe issues. This position requires working on-site at Huntington Bank Stadium and involves standing for extended periods, lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, and using mechanical and manual kitchen equipment safely and effectively.

The role also includes significant leadership responsibilities, often functioning as a lead worker. This includes orienting and training new employees, assigning tasks, ensuring adherence to performance standards, and providing informal feedback to supervisors. The cook maintains open communication with managers regarding operational matters and contributes to maintaining food production records and cleanliness standards. Employment in this role depends on successful completion of knife skills, brand training, and food safety tests during the probation period. This position is part of the Teamsters Bargaining Unit and is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship or STEM OPT training programs. The hours are event-dependent and may require overtime. The University of Minnesota offers a vibrant, inclusive, and award-winning work culture in which to grow your culinary career while supporting the prestigious academic environment of UMTC.
