Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • certified in food service safety and sanitation
  • experience serving food for large groups of individuals preferred
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM
  • bi-lingual Spanish/English
  • ability to handle special dietary needs for individuals such as diabetics and those with high blood pressure and cholesterol

Job Duties

  • prepare and serve pre-selected designated meals
  • be knowledgeable of various healthy food recipes to provide an assortment of meals
  • work with Coordinator to develop a menu for the month based on Member and team input
  • be knowledgeable of nutritional concerns and dietary restrictions of special needs individuals such as diabetics, people with high blood pressure, and high cholesterol
  • clean kitchen and dining areas after meal is served including pots, pans, cabinets, appliances, serving cart, and counter tops
  • ensure preparatory tasks are completed such as defrosting food or counting food items for the next day's menu
  • complete inventory of all items and needed supplies in kitchen for weekly food shopping list
  • practice safe food handling and food safety practices including proper sanitation, cleanliness, wrapping and freezing and defrosting of food items, handling of leftovers with labeling dates and contents, use of sharp utensils
