As a cook on the Aramark team, you will be immersed in a dynamic setting where culinary skills and creativity are encouraged. Your responsibilities will extend beyond basic food preparation, engaging you in measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, and trimming ingredients to create mouth-watering dishes that meet established recipes and production guidelines. Using a variety of cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, you will prepare proteins, vegetables, and other foods to perfection while arranging and garnishing plates to provide an appealing presentation. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards is a critical part of the job, as is adhering to food safety policies to ensure the well-being of both employees and customers.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role
  • Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and food safety regulations
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensure security of company assets
