Job Description
The hiring organization is a community-focused child care center committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and care in Manchester, NH. This center operates under the principles of the Head Start program, emphasizing inclusivity, respect for individual differences, and fostering a supportive environment for both children and their families. The center is dedicated to upholding integrity, honesty, and trust in all its activities, ensuring that it remains a dependable resource for the community it serves. As part of a broader network, the facility maintains strong partnerships with families and local agencies to promote child development and family well-being.
This full-time position offers a competitive wage ranging from $17.05 to $19.67 per hour, with compensation commensurate with experience. The role focuses on managing the daily food service operations within the child care center, ensuring that children receive nutritious meals that meet established dietary guidelines. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Center Director or Site Supervisor and the Nutrition Services Specialist. This role is essential in maintaining the health, safety, and satisfaction of both the children and the staff by overseeing meal preparation, adhering to strict food safety regulations, and coordinating food supply orders within budget limits.
The Food Service Manager will be responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to menus developed by the Nutrition Services Specialist, including adaptations for children with special dietary needs. Attention to detail is critical, as this role involves posting menus monthly, monitoring food temperatures for safety, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness in line with state and local health regulations. Beyond food preparation, the role includes ordering and storing food and supplies, grocery shopping as necessary, and managing surplus food pickups. This multifaceted job also involves assisting teaching staff with nutrition education activities and supporting parent and policy council events through food preparation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently within a team-oriented environment. They must be able to lift and carry heavy items and stand for extended periods, reflecting the physical demands of the role. Familiarity with food safety certifications, such as ServSafe or equivalent, is preferred, alongside some experience in budgeting and purchasing food supplies. Maintaining confidentiality, professional boundaries, and a positive community-oriented image are vital components of the position to uphold the standards of Southern New Hampshire Services (SNHS), the overseeing organization.
This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about child development and nutrition, seeking to contribute meaningfully to a respected community program while enjoying the benefits of a structured, supportive workplace in Manchester, NH. As part of the SNHS family, employees are encouraged to grow professionally and personally while making a tangible impact in the lives of children and families served by this program.
