The role of a Cook at Benchmark Senior Living is vital in creating a welcoming and nourishing environment for residents through the preparation of delicious and healthy meals. This position is responsible for ensuring all food services comply with federal, state, and local standards, alongside internal policies and procedures. Reporting to the Food Services Director, the cook will be an integral part of the team, contributing to the day-to-day culinary operations with a focus on quality, safety, and presentation. Responsibilities include handling various kitchen equipment safely, managing food production lines to ensure timely meal preparation, and maintaining strong interactions with residents and their families to promote positivity and pride in the community. The position offers a stable work schedule from Thursday to Monday, 11 am to 7 pm, supporting employees in achieving a healthy work-life balance. This role suits individuals passionate about culinary arts, dedicated to high foodservice standards, and eager to contribute meaningfully to the lives of senior residents.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Culinary arts training preferred
- 2 years of dietary experience
- Must have knowledge of dietary procedures, as well as related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to food service operations
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- This is primarily a standing position, may need to stand in one place for extended periods of time
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Culinary arts training preferred
- 2 years of dietary experience
- Knowledge of dietary procedures, related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to food service operations
- Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel
Job Duties
- Assures all dietary procedures are followed
- Must be able to operate all kitchen equipment safely and effectively including meat slicer, food processor, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, dishwasher, dumb waiter, warmer cabinets
- Assists in establishing food production line to ensure meals are prepared on time
- Represents the community with a positive attitude and pride when interacting with potential residents and families
- Prepares and serves nutritious meals, ensuring high-quality presentation and flavorful meals for residents
