Job Description
Northern Nevada Medical Center is a prominent acute care hospital located in Sparks, Nevada. Situated on a scenic 23-acre hillside property at 2375 E. Prater Way, this facility operates with 124 beds and caters to the healthcare needs of thousands of patients each year. The hospital has a long-standing tradition of delivering high-quality healthcare services in an environment that prioritizes both comfort and accessibility. This commitment allows patients and their families to experience peace of mind while receiving medical care. The Medical Center is known for combining state-of-the-art medical technology with compassionate, patient-centered care, positioning itself as a trusted healthcare provider in the Northern Nevada region.
As part of the Northern Nevada Medical Center and Universal Health Services, Inc. family, this Cook position offers an excellent opportunity to join one of the nation's largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services. Universal Health Services operates a wide range of healthcare facilities including acute care hospitals, behavioral health centers, outpatient services, and ambulatory care access points across the United States, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom.
This part-time Cook role presents a great work-life balance offering a convenient schedule and full benefits. Reporting directly to the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the Cook plays an essential role in patient care outside the traditional clinical setting by preparing nutritious, safe, and appetizing meals that meet the dietary needs of hospital patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires following standardized recipes and maintaining sanitary conditions in the kitchen to ensure food safety and quality. The cook performs a variety of patient food service tasks and dish duties, supporting the overall mission of the Medical Center to deliver exceptional care.
Candidates for this position should be passionate about food preparation and safety, detail-oriented, and customer-service focused. The hospital values dedication, teamwork, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and nutrition. This position is suitable for individuals seeking to contribute to healthcare services through food preparation, with clear pathways to develop culinary skills in a supportive environment.
