As a premier provider in the senior living industry, The Cypress emphasizes a compassionate and rewarding environment where staff members have front-row access to the inspiring life stories of some of the wisest members of our community. The company invests deeply in its team, recognizing that a great workplace culture and professional growth opportunities are critical to delivering the highest standard of care to residents.
The Cypress is currently seeking a full-time Cook to join its Health Center Culinary team. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about hospitality and senior engagement. The Cook will be responsible for hands-on production cooking with a strong focus on quality, service, and cleanliness. Shifts available include early morning and afternoon/early evening options. A generous pay range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour is offered, commensurate with experience, along with a $1,500 sign-on bonus. Additional perks include no late nights (shifts end by 8 pm), free uniforms, time-and-a-half pay on designated holidays, and a variety of employee incentive programs.
In this role, the Cook will operate all kitchen stations efficiently, ensuring meals are prepared according to standardized recipes and dietary specifications. The focus is on maintaining superior plate presentation and food quality, while skillfully preparing a variety of items including soups, stocks, sauces, and various cooking methods such as sautéing, frying, grilling, steaming, and baking. The Cook will also handle coordination of food production aligned with meal serving times to preserve temperature and appearance, as well as manage inventory and supply requirements effectively.
The Cypress values professionals with prior experience in hospital or senior living culinary settings, though experience in restaurants, hotels, or clubs is also welcomed. Certification in SERVSafe is preferred, along with the ability to interpret recipes, follow instructions, perform basic arithmetic, and understand kitchen equipment operations. Availability is required for weekday and weekend shifts during mornings and early evenings.
Working at The Cypress offers more than just a job; it invites individuals to join a community dedicated to senior advocacy and hospitality excellence. The company provides various benefits to support its full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision coverage, company-paid life insurance, disability, a 401(k) with company match, and a robust paid time off program. Benefits eligibility begins the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Additional employee benefits include optional daily pay, referral and recognition programs, employee discounts and appreciation bonuses, free employee meals and parking, a flexible work schedule, and a positive, open-door workplace atmosphere.
