Job Requirements

  • High school diploma general equivalency diploma (GED) or GED equivalent programs
  • minimum of 1 or more years of experience in hotel or restaurant cooking
  • knowledge of good cooking techniques
  • ability to work well in a team environment
  • strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Job Duties

  • Performs all food preparation and cooking functions maintaining all quality standards
  • prepares food accurately following production sheets and standardized recipes
  • controls and adheres to all established procedures and State requirements regarding safe food handling storage and service
  • strictly applies sanitation standards including hand washing use of gloves and continuous sanitizing of food contact surfaces utensils equipment and work stations
  • strictly monitors and maintains food temperatures at all times
  • wraps dates and labels all food items in storage
  • adheres to FIFO procedures
  • operates cooking equipment following established safety precautions
  • monitors and controls quantities of foods prepared records leftovers and waste
  • informs Production Supervisor or Chef of any problems related to production equipment food items preparation or cooking procedures
  • efficiently sets up and breaks down food serving lines
  • maintains and records HACCP log
  • maintains HACCP standards and procedures food safety regulations and safety storage compliance
  • participates actively in cleaning assignments sanitation and housekeeping duties in production areas focusing on individual work stations
  • completes assignments on production sheets and assists co-workers as unscheduled needs arise
  • participates in hospital and departmental staff development and quality improvement programs
  • performs work mostly alone but also as part of a team maintaining efficient and effective relationships with co-workers and hospital staff
  • performs other tasks or duties as assigned
  • adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior
