Job Description
Pioneer Ridge is a premier independent living community located in McKinney, dedicated to providing an enriching, comfortable, and engaging environment for active seniors. Managed under the umbrella of Hawthorn Senior Living, this community emphasizes a lifestyle that balances independence with compassionate support. At Pioneer Ridge, residents enjoy not just a living space but a vibrant community where they can partake in home-cooked meals, social events like game nights, and moments of quiet reflection with family and friends. The focus is on offering seniors the best possible quality of life through attentive services and a welcoming atmosphere that fosters connection and care.
The community is part of Hawthorn Senior Living, a company known for its commitment to resident services that prioritize dignity, respect, and individualized care. Hawthorn Senior Living operates numerous retirement communities designed to help seniors maintain privacy and independence while still benefiting from the security and social engagement a community environment provides. The organization values employees who bring integrity, compassion, and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults, building teams that embody these qualities to deliver exceptional care and experiences.
Pioneer Ridge is currently seeking a full-time P.M. Cook to join their culinary team. This role is essential in preparing nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing meals for the community’s residents. The successful candidate will collaborate with other culinary services members to ensure the kitchen operates smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This position requires an individual who is friendly, professional, energetic, and deeply committed to improving the lives of others through quality food service.
The P.M. Cook must be at least 18 years old and bring a minimum of two years’ experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking. Culinary training or education that can be verified is preferred, highlighting the employer's commitment to a high kitchen standard. Responsibilities will include following established menus and recipes to prepare meals, utilizing batch cooking practices, and adhering strictly to portion control policies. The role demands a strong knowledge of and compliance with food service sanitation standards, holding ServSafe certification and maintaining any necessary food handlers permits as per state regulations.
Effective communication is crucial in this role, especially in engaging with the residents to ensure a positive dining experience. Organizational skills and excellent customer service capabilities are essential, as is the ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines within a busy kitchen environment. The P.M. Cook plays a vital part in the overall mission of Pioneer Ridge, which focuses on hospitality, integrity, compassion, and the belief that patience, loyalty, understanding, and hard work create fulfilling lives and rewarding careers.
Beyond the intrinsic satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of seniors, Pioneer Ridge offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include paid time off, opportunities to elect healthcare, dental, vision, and disability insurance, supplemental life insurance, and participation in a company-matched 401k plan. The organization fosters a unique and celebratory culture throughout the year and provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support its staff. Pioneer Ridge invites passionate individuals who share its values to apply and become part of a team that truly cares for its residents and employees alike.
This position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a meaningful and stable career in culinary services within the senior living sector. Pioneer Ridge conducts pre-employment background checks, employment verifications, and reference checks to maintain a safe and trustworthy environment. As an equal opportunity employer, the community encourages diverse and qualified candidates to apply and contribute to delivering exceptional culinary experiences to seniors in McKinney.
