The Cook role at Arden Courts is critical in supporting the Culinary Services Coordinator in the preparation and delivery of nutritious, appealing meals to residents. This position demands a high level of attention to cleanliness, safety, and food quality standards to create an environment conducive to excellent service. The Cook must possess tact, sensitivity, and professionalism in order to effectively meet the special dietary needs and preferences of elderly residents, including those with dementia. Key responsibilities include meal preparation and food handling within state and local sanitation requirements, maintaining kitchen safety and sanitation, and assisting with inventory and food service organization. The position requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds, ensuring readiness for daily kitchen activities. Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food preparation required
- knowledge and experience working with elderly individuals
- previous dementia care experience preferred
- valid Food Service Sanitation certificate according to state/local requirements
- ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods
- ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- basic reading and writing skills
- ability to speak English in an understandable manner
