Currently, Canteen is hiring for full-time and part-time Cook positions located at Physicians Mutual in Omaha, NE. The Cook plays a vital role in preparing high-quality food items in compliance with all federal, state, and corporate standards to ensure customer satisfaction and food safety. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, with varying hours and offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $19.00. As a Cook, you will be responsible for adhering to standardized recipes, maintaining portion control, and ensuring the food’s presentation, temperature, and taste meet company standards. The role requires a hands-on approach in kitchen upkeep, including cleaning and safe food storage practices, as well as assisting with inventory and equipment maintenance. Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where safety and proper food handling are prioritized, including the use of safety equipment such as gloves, oven mitts, and slip-resistant shoes. Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning and ensuring food is at the correct temperature and visually appealing
  • Taste all prepared food items to ensure quality
  • Follow ticket collection procedures during service
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas
  • Store or discard excess food following safe food-handling procedures
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • Assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • Report maintenance issues or accidents to the supervisor
  • Attend safety and in-service meetings
  • Maintain good working relationships with coworkers and management
  • Follow safety procedures including use of gloves, oven mitts, and slip-resistant shoes
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
