The cook position involves preparing high-quality food items in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, using standardized recipes and ensuring that all meals are properly portioned, attractively presented, and served at the correct temperature. Beyond food preparation, this role includes kitchen sanitation, equipment operation, inventory assistance, and compliance with food safety protocols including HACCP standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking experience required
  • Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Availability to work flexible full-time or part-time schedules
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Compliance with company safety policies and procedures including use of personal protective equipment
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Willingness to undergo background screening if required

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Taste all prepared food items
  • Use established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen after preparation and serving
  • Store or discard excess food following safe food-handling procedures
  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • Report maintenance issues, equipment faults or accidents promptly
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures adhering to HACCP standards
  • Follow safety procedures including use of cut gloves, oven mitts, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Commit personally to safety and maintaining a clean, safe work environment
