TouchPoint is currently hiring for full-time and part-time Cook positions based at Henry Ford St John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. These roles are critical in maintaining the high standards of food service that align with TouchPoint's mission of supporting patient care and wellness. The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving food items in compliance with federal, state, and corporate standards and policies, ensuring the food presented is attractive, delicious, and safe. This position offers a fixed pay rate of $16.00 per hour and requires previous food service experience. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include rotating weekends and varying hours.

The Cook at TouchPoint plays a crucial role in the kitchen operations by following standardized recipes and instructions, controlling portions accurately, and maintaining proper food temperatures. Beyond food preparation, duties include cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, storing food safely, managing kitchen inventory, using kitchen equipment properly, and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors. This role also involves adhering to safety protocols such as wearing appropriate gloves and footwear to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Tastes all prepared food items
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Responsible for records from area worked during service periods
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
