The Culinary Worker role at Seven Counties Services is a full-time position focused on maintaining sanitary kitchen environments, preparing nutritious meals, and assisting clients and visitors with food services and directions as needed. This position involves a combination of culinary skills and customer service, targeting the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of various food items including carving and portioning meats, fish, and poultry for individual servings. Candidates will be tasked with planning menus tailored to the needs of clients, visitors, and staff, as well as estimating food order quantities and creatively managing leftovers to minimize waste. Additionally, the role includes training and monitoring clients assigned to kitchen tasks, supporting skill-building and responsibility within the community.
Holding a minimum of one year’s food service experience within a commercial or healthcare setting is essential for success in this role, as is knowledge of safe kitchen equipment use and sanitation standards. The position also requires physical stamina, including lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods, and the ability to safely operate necessary kitchen tools. Candidates should be comfortable working under exposure to varying temperatures, moisture, and light cleaning chemicals. Availability for potential 24-hour on-call shifts is also a key consideration.
