Job Description
OhioHealth is a comprehensive, not-for-profit health system dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves. With a deep-rooted belief that wellness and sickness are lifelong partnerships, OhioHealth emphasizes the importance of expert guidance to help individuals discover their own power to be healthy. As a health system, OhioHealth works tirelessly to inspire hope, foster growth, and promote excellence both within its workforce and in the broader community. This commitment is reflected in their approach to healthcare, which values safety, quality, and efficiency, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care possible.
The Nutrition Services Department at OhioHealth plays a crucial role in supporting patient health through the preparation of nourishing and safe meals. They are currently seeking a dedicated professional responsible for preparing hot foods for patients and retail customers. This role is essential in ensuring that meals meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, typically with overnight shifts from Monday through Friday and potential weekend hours as needed, offering a structured but dynamic work schedule. The role demands attention to detail in food preparation, rigorous adherence to food safety protocols, and the maintenance of a clean and orderly work environment.
In this position, the employee will prepare both hot and cold foods based on production sheets and standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and satisfaction for the patients and retail customers served. The role encompasses a significant emphasis on food safety, requiring the documentation of safety logs and appropriate use of cooking and preparation equipment such as convection ovens, grills, braisers, and fryers. Additionally, the employee is expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and equipment, perform basic housekeeping duties, and communicate promptly with supervisors about any issues such as equipment malfunctions.
The job also includes training and relief responsibilities, allowing for workforce flexibility and knowledge sharing within the team. The ideal candidate must possess at least a high school diploma or GED and have a minimum of one year of food preparation experience, particularly with large-volume hot food preparation and creative food garnishing techniques. This position embodies OhioHealth's commitment to fostering a high reliability organization culture, focused on delivering safe, high-quality, and efficient services. Working within OhioHealth offers the opportunity to engage in a career that values continuous learning, excellence, and contributing positively to the health sector.
