Job Description
Brio Living Services is a compassionate and community-focused provider dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults. Specializing in senior living services, Brio Living Services operates a range of supportive programs and facilities designed to cater to the unique needs of seniors. One of their premier locations, Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids, MI, is well-known for its commitment to quality dining services within a welcoming and nurturing environment. This full-time Cook position within the Dining Services Department is pivotal to Brio's mission of enhancing resident satisfaction through excellent culinary experiences. The employment opportunity offers a competitive wage ranging from $17.51 to $21.23 per hour, inclusive of shift premiums for weekend work. The standard schedule is full-time, with 40 hours per week including varying shifts Monday through Friday and alternating weekends, requiring flexibility and dedication to meet the shifting demands of meal service times.
As a Cook in Brio Living Services' scratch kitchen, you will play a vital role in preparing and cooking nutritious, wholesome meals that not only meet the dietary needs of older adults but also bring joy and comfort. This role involves working with fresh, local ingredients to create chef-inspired menu items that ensure a high level of satisfaction among residents. Beyond just cooking, this position is about creating an atmosphere where food becomes a medium for care and connection. The Cook will be responsible for various meal shifts including lunch, dinner and breakfast, demonstrating an ability to adapt and produce meals throughout different times of the day. Emphasizing quality, presentation, and nutritional standards, you will be expected to collaborate with the dining team to accommodate special dietary restrictions and preferences, thus ensuring all guests receive meals tailored to their health needs.
The role requires physical capability for tasks such as frequent stooping, bending and lifting up to 35 pounds, reflecting the dynamic nature of working in a busy dining kitchen environment. Candidates are preferably those with culinary education and ServSafe certification, affirming a commitment to food safety and professional cooking standards. Brio Living Services values experience gained in professional kitchens, encouraging applicants who have worked as cooks, line cooks or prep cooks within the food service industry to bring their expertise to this fulfilling opportunity. The Cook position is not only about culinary skills but also about being part of a community-oriented team that strives to provide excellent service and foster a warm dining atmosphere.
Joining Brio Living Services means more than just a job; it means becoming part of a team that invests in employee growth and wellness. The organization supports career development through tuition assistance and educational scholarships, helping team members to expand their skill sets and advance their careers. Health and wellness are prioritized with programs offering annual reimbursements and competitive medical, vision, and dental insurance available soon after hire. Financial security is encouraged with retirement savings plans including employer contributions. Furthermore, employees enjoy conveniences such as daily pay options, generous paid time off including holidays, a team member referral bonus program, and free freshly prepared meals during shifts. All these benefits reflect Brio Living Services' commitment to supporting its workforce comprehensively, helping employees balance their work and personal lives while fostering professional fulfillment. Accessibility support for applicants with disabilities is available, upholding Brio's commitment to equal opportunity and inclusive employment practices.
