Job Description

Homestead Hills is a distinguished luxury senior living community dedicated to creating an exceptional living experience for its residents. Recognized as a Great Place to Work, Homestead Hills embodies a culture centered around the principle of 'People First.' The company takes pride in its compassionate and respectful approach to senior care, fostering an environment where every interaction is meaningful and every team member is valued. With a focus on teamwork, growth, and integrity, Homestead Hills supports its employees by offering a work atmosphere that promotes professional development and a genuine commitment to enriching lives. The company is driven by core values that emphasize service excellence, community engagement, and respect for all individuals involved, including residents, families, and staff alike.

Currently, Homestead Hills is seeking a dedicated Cook for its Independent Living restaurant, a role regarded as a Sous Chef in training. This position is ideal for culinary professionals with strong foundational cooking skills who aspire to lead and inspire a kitchen team. The selected candidate will work primarily from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with weekend shifts on a rotating basis and Sunday brunch hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The role involves preparing high-quality meals from scratch in accordance with standardized recipes and presentation standards. Culinary experience in fine dining or contemporary casual dining settings is considered advantageous. Additionally, ServSafe certification is preferred, with employer support available to obtain this credential.

The Sous Chef in training is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the seven methods of cooking and maintain oversight of all kitchen stations and responsibilities. This includes reviewing opening, closing, and prep lists, ensuring consistent quality, portion control, and safety compliance. The individual will also contribute to leadership activities, assist in training new cooks through the Culinary Pathways program, and participate actively in community events planning. Collaboration with both front and back of the house teams is essential to meet the company’s established standards for food safety, quality, and service excellence.

Working at Homestead Hills involves strict adherence to HACCP and other food safety protocols, including precise documentation of temperature charts and compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. The company values clear communication and professionalism among team members and promotes a culture of safety, teamwork, and ethics. Employees are expected to support the mission of delivering the Weller Life experience, ensuring residents’ satisfaction through positive interactions and exceptional culinary offerings.

The position demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, operate kitchen equipment safely, and handle lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidates must also be able to adapt to a dynamic work environment and maintain composure during stressful situations. Training and continuing education are emphasized, with regular in-service sessions and community meetings to support ongoing employee growth. Homestead Hills is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and is committed to providing a supportive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
