With over 70 years of experience, Morrison Healthcare supports leading health systems by delivering culinary, nutritional, and operational expertise that ensures quality and excellence in patient care. The company prides itself on its commitment to fostering a culture of caring, belonging, and purpose where employees can make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, caregivers, and communities. Morrison Healthcare employs more than 31,000 team members nationwide, including registered dietitians and executive chefs who work collaboratively to uphold the highest standards in healthcare dining services.

The Cook position at Morrison Healthcare, located at Florida Coast Medical in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and healthcare nutrition. This full-time role involves preparing food according to federal, state, and corporate standards and guidelines while ensuring excellent quality and safety in every meal served. The schedule primarily covers 1st and 3rd shifts, with days and hours subject to vary. The pay ranges from $17.00 to $21.00 per hour, reflecting the company’s commitment to competitive compensation for its valuable team members.

The responsibilities of the Cook include preparing high-quality food items in accordance with standardized recipes and instructions to meet production and service schedules. The role requires maintaining food safety by using proper portion control, adhering to temperature standards, and presenting meals attractively. The Cook must taste all prepared items to ensure quality and use established ticket collection procedures during service. Maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen is critical, including storing or discarding excess food safely, cleaning refrigerators and storerooms, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is operated and maintained properly.

Additional duties encompass assisting with production planning, keeping accurate records, ordering and receiving food and supplies, and promptly reporting any maintenance issues or accidents to supervisors. The Cook participates in safety meetings and in-service training sessions to stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements. Teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as the role involves collaborating with coworkers, managers, administrators, and customers.

The position demands a personal commitment to safety, complying with company policies such as using medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives and other sharp tools, employing oven mitts or gloves for hot pans, wearing slip-resistant shoes, and practicing proper lifting techniques to prevent injury. This role is ideal for individuals with previous cooking experience who wish to contribute to a meaningful service by nourishing patients and healthcare teams. Morrison Healthcare values diversity and inclusion and offers equal opportunity employment to all qualified candidates.

Working with Morrison Healthcare provides access to excellent benefits that support the well-being, professional growth, and financial security of team members. The company fosters an environment where employees can thrive through comprehensive health programs, retirement plans, and various voluntary benefits.
