Job Description

Helio Health is a dedicated organization committed to promoting recovery from substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral health issues through comprehensive support and care. As a respected leader in community health services, Helio Health continually strives to improve the lives of individuals facing these challenges by providing effective treatment, support, and resources aimed at fostering long-term recovery and wellness. The organization offers a range of residential programs that provide residents with a safe and supportive environment where they can focus on their recovery journey with the assistance of compassionate professionals and evidence-based practices.

Helio Health is currently seeking a Full-Time Cook to join their team and contribute to the mission of supporting residents in their recovery by providing nutritious, high-quality meals. This role is a valuable part of the Residential Programs team, requiring the preparation and serving of meals to clients residing in the Community Residence. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Team Leader and Residence Manager, ensuring that the kitchen operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements.

The Cook will be responsible for maintaining an organized and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering strictly to infection control procedures, and participating actively in Quality Assurance activities designed to uphold high standards of food service and safety. This position demands a strong sense of responsibility for monitoring supplies, equipment, and food inventory to meet the menu plan requirements adequately. In addition, the Cook will perform various general kitchen and stock duties, ensuring that all food preparation activities align with Helio Health’s policies and regulatory guidelines.

Working Monday through Friday during daytime hours, this role offers an hourly wage of $19.57 and is accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families. The position also qualifies for a Sign-On Incentive of up to $1,500. Helio Health prioritizes employee well-being and provides paid vacation and sick leave with no waiting period for accrual, paid holidays including a floating birthday holiday, a 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, company-paid short-term disability insurance, company-sponsored life insurance, and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Helio Health is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusiveness, providing equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, creed, color, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), parental status, religion, national origin, citizenship, veteran status, disability, or any other protected status under federal, state, or local law. The organization acknowledges salary and hourly compensation ranges based on New York State law and offers compensation packages based on candidates’ education, experience, and information provided by program hiring managers.

The ideal Cook will demonstrate a strong background in food service and preparation techniques and have the physical ability to perform related tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively are essential for success in this role. Joining Helio Health means becoming part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making a substantial difference in the lives of those recovering from addiction and mental health challenges through compassionate care and nutritious meals that support holistic wellness.
