With over 70 years of experience, Morrison Healthcare specializes in delivering high-quality culinary, nutritional, and operational services tailored to hospitals, health systems, and long-term care facilities across the United States. At Morrison Healthcare, the mission centers around nourishing patients, caregivers, and communities while maintaining the highest standards of detail, quality, and excellence in every meal served. Their dedication goes beyond just food preparation; it is about making a difference in the lives of individuals and fostering a culture of care, belonging, and teamwork among their 31,000 employees nationwide.
Currently, Morrison Healthcare is looking to immediately fill full-time Cook positions at the MS Baptist Medical Center located at 1225 North State Street, Jackson, Mississippi. This role is integral to supporting the hospital's food service operations by preparing meals that meet strict federal, state, and corporate standards. The Cook position operates on a full-time schedule from Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 2:00 pm, with rotating weekends required, offering a fixed pay rate of $14.00 per hour. The role demands expertise in high volume batch cooking and a commitment to food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
As a Cook at Morrison Healthcare, you will be responsible for preparing food items according to standardized recipes, ensuring portions and presentations meet specified standards, and maintaining proper food temperatures. Attention to detail is critical as you taste food items and adhere to established ticket collection procedures during service. In addition to cooking duties, this role involves maintaining a pristine kitchen environment through regular cleaning, proper storage of food and supplies, and ensuring kitchen equipment is operated and maintained correctly.
The position also includes administrative responsibilities such as production planning, record keeping, reporting, ordering, and receiving supplies. Safety is a high priority with required compliance to HACCP standards and company safety policies, including the use of protective gloves, oven mitts, and slip-resistant shoes. Employees are encouraged to participate in in-service training and safety meetings to continually enhance their skills and workplace safety.
Morrison Healthcare values teamwork, accountability, and integrity, encouraging employees to build strong relationships with coworkers, customers, and management. This job is more than preparing meals – it’s about delivering nourishment that supports healing and wellbeing. Successful candidates will be those who embrace the company’s culture of care and excellence while contributing their culinary expertise in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Joining Morrison Healthcare means becoming part of a supportive and dynamic organization committed to your professional growth and wellbeing. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability insurance for full-time employees. Additional benefits such as retirement plans, wellness programs, paid and unpaid time off, and voluntary benefits like pet insurance and critical illness insurance round out the supportive work environment. Morrison Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair treatment of all applicants and staff regardless of race, age, gender identity, or other protected statuses.
