The current opening at Morrison Healthcare is for full-time Cook positions at the MUSC Columbia Downtown location in Columbia, South Carolina. This role is especially suited for those who have previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare setting. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food items in accordance with federal, state, and corporate policies and regulations. This position offers a rotating schedule including days, hours, and weekends, with pay ranging from $16.25 to $20.00 per hour. As a Cook at Morrison Healthcare, you will be tasked with preparing food using standardized recipes to ensure consistency, food safety, and taste quality. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, managing food storage according to safety guidelines, and operating kitchen equipment responsibly. Other responsibilities include assisting with production planning, record keeping, and ordering supplies as necessary. Safety is a critical part of the job and involves following established protocols such as wearing protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cook experience preferably in healthcare setting
- Ability to work full-time with rotating shifts including weekends
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to perform physical tasks required by the job
- Good communication skills
- Availability to comply with company policies and procedures

Job Duties
- Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
- Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning and ensure food temperature and appearance meet standards
- Taste all prepared food items for quality control
- Use ticket collection procedures during service
- Clean kitchen after preparation and serving while maintaining cleanliness standards
- Store or discard excess food following safe food-handling procedures
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
- Assist in production planning, record keeping, and ordering of supplies
- Report maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to supervisor
- Attend in-service and safety meetings
- Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
- Perform job safely and maintain a clean, safe work environment
- Ensure proper portion control and serving temperature following HACCP standards
- Follow company safety policies including use of gloves, oven mitts, and slip-resistant shoes
