The Cook position at Bon Appetit, based at the Target Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, offers a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. This role is essential in maintaining the company’s acclaimed standards of food preparation and service. The Cook is responsible for preparing food following federal, state, and corporate guidelines, ensuring that the quality and safety standards are consistently met. This role demands experience in scratch cooking, as well as an ability to prepare meals according to standardized recipes and service schedules with precision. The Cook handles meal preparation, portion control, food temperature management, and aesthetic presentation to guarantee customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, proper storage and disposal of food, and upkeep of kitchen equipment. Safety and hygiene protocols are paramount, including the use of protective gloves, slip-resistant shoes, and correct lifting techniques.

Job Requirements

  • previous scratch-cooking experience is required
  • ability to work Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • must be able to comply with safety protocols including use of protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes
  • capability to perform job duties in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • must be able to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
  • legal authorization to work
  • ability to stand for extended periods

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • tastes all prepared food items
  • uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • responsible for records from area worked during service periods
  • cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • ensures food and supply items are stored per standards
  • operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
  • reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately
  • attends in-service and safety meetings
  • maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • performs other duties as assigned
  • ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures
  • follows HACCP standards
