The current opportunity is for full-time Cook positions located at JPL Cafe 303 in Pasadena, California. This role is integral to the smooth operation of the culinary team and requires preparing food that meets safety and quality standards while ensuring customer satisfaction. The Cook will work Monday through Thursday with hours that may vary, and all applications are to be submitted online. The pay range for this position is competitive, from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, reflecting the experience and skills brought to the role. In this role, the Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food items based on standardized recipes and production guidelines to meet scheduled service and delivery requirements. Key responsibilities include ensuring food is appealing, properly portioned, and served at the correct temperature. The Cook must also maintain rigorous food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, cleanliness, and kitchen equipment care. This position demands a good taste palate to verify food quality and the ability to manage records related to service and production. The role also involves collaboration with team members to assist in inventory management, ordering, and reporting. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to work full-time Monday through Thursday
  • Must comply with company safety and food handling policies
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning and meeting temperature standards
  • Taste all prepared food items for quality assurance
  • Use established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high cleanliness standards
  • Store or discard excess food following safe food-handling procedures
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • Assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • Report maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to supervisor immediately
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • Follow company safety policies including use of cut gloves, oven mitts, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques
