This full-time Cook position is based at CHS Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas, and offers an hourly pay rate of $15.00. The role requires candidates to have at least one year of previous cooking experience and be available to work days, weekends, and varying hours to meet the demands of the service schedule. The Cook will play a critical part in preparing high-quality food items in accordance with established federal, state, and corporate standards and guidelines. Responsibilities include following standardized recipes and portion controls to ensure meals are not only nutritious and safe but also visually appealing and tasty. Maintaining cleanliness and adherence to food safety regulations like HACCP is essential.

In this position, preparation skills go hand-in-hand with a team-oriented approach. The Cook will be expected to assist in inventory management, produce accurate records, and report any maintenance issues or hazards to supervisors to maintain a safe working environment. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • stores or discards excess food following safe food-handling procedures
  • keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized
  • operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • reports maintenance issues or accidents immediately
  • maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • ensures proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • attends safety and in-service meetings
  • abides by company policies including safety protocols for handling knives and hot equipment
