The role available at Stones River Manor is a full-time cook position, with a schedule from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM including some weekdays and every other weekend, recognizing the importance of flexibility in supporting the operation's needs. This role includes a weekend shift differential, offering additional compensation for weekend work. The cook position is integral to the culinary operations at the Manor, tasked with preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that cater to the residents, employees, and visitors daily. Responsibilities include everything from reading menus and estimating food requirements, to procuring ingredients and managing cooking equipment such as ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles. The cook will prepare a diverse range of foods including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and more, emphasizing quality, taste, presentation, and dietary requirements such as soft or liquid diets. This position demands a strong attention to detail in seasoning, cooking, carving, and plating while maintaining strict hygiene standards and cleanliness of utensils and the kitchen environment. Job Requirements
- Less than high school education
- Up to one month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must pass drug screening and background check
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- Willingness to work some weekdays and every other weekend
- Ability to adjust cooking equipment thermostat controls
- Capacity to prepare a variety of foods according to recipes

Job Duties
- Reads menu to estimate food requirements and procures food from storage
- Estimates food and beverage costs and requisitions or purchases supplies
- Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles
- Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking
- Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine that it is cooked
- Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders
- Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use
- Cuts, trims, and bones meat prior to cooking
- Cleans utensils used during cooking process
- Places servings in blender to make foods for soft or liquid diets
