The Cook position at Midwestern State University offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities with flexible AM and PM shifts from Monday through Friday. The pay range for this role is competitive, starting at $13.00 and going up to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This role requires hands-on food preparation with a focus on adherence to federal, state, and corporate standards, including safety, quality, and presentation. Candidates are expected to bring 1-3 years of cooking experience and hold a valid Food Handler's certification. Preference is given to individuals with experience handling raw chicken, leadership skills, and previous experience with the Chick-fil-A brand.

The role involves preparing high-quality food items following standardized recipes while ensuring meals are attractive, tasty, and served at proper temperatures. Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and manages records from area worked during service periods
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Assists in ordering and receiving all food and supplies as required
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents immediately to supervisor
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to safety and abides by all company policies and procedures including use of protective gloves, shoes and proper lifting techniques
  • Performs other duties as assigned
