Job Description
Sunshine Retirement Living is a distinguished community dedicated to providing exceptional senior living experiences. Known for its compassionate care and vibrant environment, Sunshine Retirement Living prides itself on fostering a respectful, inclusive atmosphere where residents feel valued and supported. As a leader in the senior care industry, the company emphasizes not only comfortable living spaces but also diverse dining options tailored to meet the nutritional needs and preferences of its residents. The community adheres strictly to all policies, procedures, and safety regulations to ensure a secure and welcoming environment for both residents and staff.
The role of Cook Supervisor, also known as Executive Chef, is a pivotal position within Sunshine Retirement Living, focused on the preparation of nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing meals. This hourly, non-exempt position requires a hands-on approach in managing the kitchen operations to deliver smooth, efficient, and safe food service. The individual in this position works collaboratively with other food services members to maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and service. The Cook Supervisor is responsible for adhering to established menus and portion-control requirements, ensuring that meals meet the community’s health and dietary standards and satisfy resident expectations.
The Executive Chef duties extend beyond meal preparation to include reviewing daily menus and food production worksheets, implementing portion control, overseeing food safety procedures, and managing the cleanliness of kitchen and serving areas. This role is crucial in ensuring food quality by following community recipes and sanitation protocols, maintaining accurate temperature logs, and managing leftovers according to policy. Additionally, the Cook Supervisor plays an important part in resident satisfaction by promptly addressing food complaints and contributing to the success of special community functions.
This position demands excellence in communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, staff, and supervisors. It also requires individuals who can work independently and within a team to uphold the community’s standards and policies. The job holder must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and a respectful approach toward coworkers and residents. The role also entails compliance with state-related requirements and the successful completion of background and health screenings, including TB clearance where applicable.
Physical demands for this role include standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, grasping, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling, often while lifting weights up to 100 pounds. Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential functions effectively.
Sunshine Retirement Living prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities without regard to protected characteristics such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability. The company is committed to fair and equitable pay practices, not considering an applicant's salary history during compensation decisions to ensure transparency and fairness.
For individuals passionate about culinary arts within the healthcare setting and committed to providing outstanding service to seniors, the Cook Supervisor position at Sunshine Retirement Living represents a rewarding career opportunity that combines creativity, leadership, and community engagement.
