Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience in the food service industry as a cook
- Ability to stand and walk short distances for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry objects over 50 pounds
- Capability to stoop, bend, twist, and reach at various levels
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to maintain calm and professionalism under pressure
- Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Willingness to follow instructions and work collaboratively
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience as a cook in the food service industry, preferably in high-volume establishments
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and kitchen equipment
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal directions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of sanitation standards and safe kitchen practices
- Positive attitude toward customer service and interest in geriatric care
- Ability to work under pressure and handle routine problems
- Familiarity with various cooking methods and ingredients
- Demonstrated capability to safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and chef knives
Job Duties
- Ensure the safety of prepared foods by monitoring food temperatures and recording results in a Food Temperature Log
- Maintain sanitary working conditions by meeting health department standards and following cleaning schedules
- Prepare meals by following approved menus, recipes, and production sheets
- Assist in controlling food costs through proper storage, labeling, waste monitoring, and waste reduction projects
- Suggest menu innovations and enhancements to improve resident satisfaction and dining experience
- Prepare special meals for meetings, conferences, and charitable projects as required
- Support teamwork and assist other departments with special requests and projects at the discretion of the supervisor
