Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in the food service industry as a cook
  • Ability to stand and walk short distances for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry objects over 50 pounds
  • Capability to stoop, bend, twist, and reach at various levels
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to maintain calm and professionalism under pressure
  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Willingness to follow instructions and work collaboratively
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience as a cook in the food service industry, preferably in high-volume establishments
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal directions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards and safe kitchen practices
  • Positive attitude toward customer service and interest in geriatric care
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle routine problems
  • Familiarity with various cooking methods and ingredients
  • Demonstrated capability to safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and chef knives

Job Duties

  • Ensure the safety of prepared foods by monitoring food temperatures and recording results in a Food Temperature Log
  • Maintain sanitary working conditions by meeting health department standards and following cleaning schedules
  • Prepare meals by following approved menus, recipes, and production sheets
  • Assist in controlling food costs through proper storage, labeling, waste monitoring, and waste reduction projects
  • Suggest menu innovations and enhancements to improve resident satisfaction and dining experience
  • Prepare special meals for meetings, conferences, and charitable projects as required
  • Support teamwork and assist other departments with special requests and projects at the discretion of the supervisor
