The Barclay at Sarasota, one of QSL Management's premier senior living communities, is now hiring a dedicated Cook. The Cook at The Barclay at Sarasota is responsible for preparing, planning, and cooking meals based on established menus designed to meet the nutritional and dietary needs of senior residents. This includes adherence to therapeutic and modified diets when necessary. The role demands a focus on excellence in both the quality of food and service while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment that encourages collaboration and team spirit. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including holidays and weekends, is essential to support the community's operational needs.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a caring heart willing to serve others
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Trade school, associate or bachelor's degree in culinary preferred
  • 2 years of related culinary experience
  • Self-motivation and creativity in culinary experience a plus
  • Good knife skills and familiar with all cooking methods
  • Experience with therapeutic or modified diets preferred
  • Must be flexible to work a variety of shifts including holidays and weekends

Job Duties

  • Prep, plan and cook meals according to established menus

  • Maintain or exceed standards of a kitchen environment that promotes teamwork, safety, proper hygiene and cleanliness
  • Stock supplies as needed
  • Willingness to work in a senior living environment and prepare food which meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards
