This role is for a Cook position within Aramark, offering an hourly compensation of $18.58. The Cook will play a vital role in bringing recipes to life, engaging with fresh ingredients, and employing creativity in food preparation. The position involves working with a variety of cooking methods and adhering closely to production guidelines and Aramark's safety and sanitation policies. As an integral part of the culinary team, the Cook will be responsible for setting up the workstation, preparing ingredients by measuring, weighing, chopping, and trimming, and using various kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, and slicers. Ensuring food safety by following standardized recipes, safe food handling, and storage practices is essential. The role requires maintaining clean and sanitary workspace and utensils, demonstrating excellent customer service with a positive demeanor, and complying with Aramark's security policies. This position may involve physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking, as well as the use of personal protective equipment.

Job Requirements

  • experience as a cook or in a related role
  • knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and food safety regulations
  • ability to acquire food safety certification
  • basic math and counting skills
  • interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing
  • willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Qualifications

  • experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • ensures security of company assets
