The role of Float Cook at Benedictine Living is a vital one, encompassing the preparation of both hot and cold food items for patients, residents, visitors, and staff. This position involves not only culinary skills but also leadership responsibilities, as the Float Cook leads Culinary Services Aides in daily operations and actively participates in all culinary training initiatives. The Float Cook ensures that food preparation adheres strictly to food safety guidelines, diet restrictions, and standardized recipes, maintaining high standards of quality and safety. In this capacity, the Float Cook operates, cleans, and sanitizes foodservice equipment and work areas to promote a safe and hygienic environment. Beyond cooking and food service, this role involves serving food according to strict portion control guides and diet restrictions, thereby contributing directly to the health and satisfaction of those served.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in quantity food production
- ability to operate and clean foodservice equipment
- knowledge of food safety guidelines and diet restrictions
- strong leadership skills to lead and guide culinary services aides
- availability to travel to multiple Benedictine community sites within the assigned region
- good communication and interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications
- Quantity food production experience
- completion of an approved food safety sanitation course or completion within the first 90 days of employment
Job Duties
- Operate clean and sanitize foodservice equipment and work area
- prepare food following food safety guidelines diet restrictions and standardized recipes
- serve food according to portion control guides and diet restrictions
- promote the Benedictine Mission and Core Values of hospitality stewardship respect and justice in daily activities
- perform other duties tasks and projects as assigned
- lead culinary services aides in day-to-day operations
