The role of the Cook at Peppermill is integral to the daily operations of the fine dining restaurants. It involves daily preparation and production of high-quality food products, ensuring that every plate served meets the restaurant’s exacting standards. The Cook works closely with the Restaurant Chef and Master Cooks, playing a crucial part in inventory control, maintaining proper par stocks, and upholding the quality of purchased goods. The Cook is also responsible for supporting menu development by assisting in the implementation of creative and diverse menu items. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum two years of professional cooking experience
- knowledge of various culinary techniques and cuisines
- ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- strong communication skills
- attention to detail
- commitment to food safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or G.E.D. or culinary apprenticeship or culinary school graduate, preferred
- two or more years in hotel restaurant/casino outlet or individual restaurant, pertaining to the specialized high-volume area
- must be familiar with all aspects of the cuisine for the restaurant (Wok cookery, Continental cuisine, etc.)
- culinary background must have an emphasis on high volume, quality cuisine and sanitation skills
Job Duties
- Prepare high quality and consistent food products
- continually emphasize day to day communication skills and commitment to excellent cuisine
- work in close conjunction with Restaurant Chef and Master Cooks on all items pertaining to the outlet, maintaining proper par stocks, inventory control and quality of purchased goods
- maintain the highest levels of professionalism, including the proper dress code
- report any damaged or broken equipment to management as quickly as possible
- report any unsafe conditions to management
- assist in implementing creative menus
- follow all sanitation procedures
